Supporting and Measuring Progress for pupils with SEND, EAL and those who are the most able

 A new half-day seminar aimed at helping staff to identify, support and monitor progress of pupils with SEND, EAL and the most able. We explore how to create a learning environment in which all pupils can maximise their achievement and ensure excellent outcomes for all abilities.

Suitable for: Staff with particular responsibility for pupils with extra learning needs across the spectrum; this seminar relates to paragraphs 2 (curriculum) and 3 (teaching of the ISSR).

Course outline:

1. Introduction
2. Identification of the different learning needs that pupils present with
3. Using data to support decisions 
4. Creation of a learning environment suited to all children
5. Effective monitoring of learning outcomes and progress over time

By the end of this seminar delegates will:

- Recognise typical characteristics and understand the learning needs of more able pupils
- Be able to tailor teaching and lesson planning to the capabilities of the more able
- Understand how to apply a range of strategies to enliven and accelerate learning for more able pupils
- Understand the main characteristics of the principal SEND categories
- Have a range of practical support strategies to apply and share with colleagues
- Be able to differentiate learning outcomes
- Be confident to assess provision in the same way an inspection team would

Virtual Seminar

- Seminars will take place via Zoom video conferencing.
- The session will open 15 minutes before the seminar starts
- You will receive joining instructions two days before the seminar with a link to enter the session and any materials required.

- Doors will open 15 minutes before the seminar starts.
- You will receive joining instructions and details of what to bring one week before the seminar date.
- Lunch and refreshments will be provided.
