7. Lesson Observation and ISI Inspections

Description

This three-hour seminar explores how lesson observations in a Regulatory Compliance Inspection (RCI) contribute evidence of the extent of a school’s compliance with the Independent School Standards Regulations (ISSRS) and other relevant regulations. It explores the Educational Quality Inspection (EQI) criteria and grade descriptors and demonstrates how lesson observations can shed light on the quality of pupils’ outcomes. The webinar explains how RCI and EQI lesson observations are carried out and the nature of the evidence that is recorded during these. The webinar also makes clear how lesson planning, marking and other teachers’ documentation are considered during an educational quality inspection. Delegates will have the opportunity to ask questions on these themes and seek any clarification that might be useful. The seminar is designed to help schools prepare for inspection and offers useful clarity about what staff can expect when their lessons are observed.

Suitable for: Senior and middle leaders, heads of department; this relates to the ISSRs and the EQI Framework.
